a bookshelf

I have been thinking about making a bookshelf for this project. Actually its purpose will be primarily function over form.(I just need one quite badly). Initially I was thinking of different shapes of shelving units to divide and create space for books. The whole figure which is tilted will be used to divide and create space within the room. One of my alternative principles is to break down the boundaries of a rectangular room. A side of the bookshelf will consist of cut-out patterns, so I will be able to see the book covers as well. Design wise, I tried to make it simple as I am going to build one after the assessment.

After having a chat with a tutor from spatial design, I just tried to look at things from different point of view. First drawing is looking at an watercolour tube from different angles, then I was thinking of making a book of book which is 3 dimension when it's folded, but 2 dimension when it's opened, kind of.(not very convincing) It was quite interesting for me, but also hard.

I found a book shows series of photography of old water tower and winding towers etc. They are very interesting shapes, and I tried to draw what interests me.

To understand Zaha Hadid works, I drew her models(especially adorable paper relieves) then I kinda figured out what she tried to achieve. Breaking spaces with her great views, pushing the limit of conventional spatial topology. Sometimes I feel like my hand has better brain than one in my head.(?)
